Trying to break this topic down into 5 simple tips was a challenge but I’m here today to share with you how you can start to achieve more happiness with 5 simple tips in mind. Everyday brings new challenges and new obstacles and limits such as time, money, resources and lack of motivation seem to get in the way for us all from living a great life! I hear excuses all the time from friends and family which are used to justify their unhappiness – here are a few examples :
” I just feel so fat. I can’t stop eating and I now I’m gaining so much weight that it’s making me depressed”
” My boyfriend / girlfriend dumped me. I’m so upset, I’m never gonna find someone like him/her”
” I have NO money. I can’t do fun things, I can’t buy new clothes. It’s making me depressed”
“ I am never good enough. He/ She is always going to be better than me”
” Nothing is right! Nothing is good for me at the moment. It will never get better”
It does get better. It will get better. YOU DECIDE WHEN AND HOW.
You should be in control of your own happiness and realise that there are obstacles in life. In reality, it’s up to you to work around these obstacles and be accountable for all the ways you are limiting yourself to be happy.
1) Stop thinking everything is supposed to be easy / perfect
Happiness will be pretty much impossible to find if you are stuck in the mindset that you aren’t supposed to encounter rough patches in life. By failing to accept this, you will find yourself unhappy and left wondering why. Taking a step back and giving yourself a reality check with a pinch of gratitude can help you take a few steps towards being happier!
2) Take great care of yourself!
This is so important when it comes to being happy and is the only way to make sure you are giving your best in other areas of your life! Wanting better sleep, getting your haircut, keeping your fitness up, healthy eating, pamper sessions.. You name it, YOU deserve it! Go for it! The better you take care of yourself the better you can offer yourself to your job, family, partner, and your dreams. It’s all about self-care!
3) Visualize your success
In your own time – visualize your most outrageous success you would want for yourself. Take the time to think about what you really and truly want from your life. Think about what do I stand for? What do I truly want for myself? What sort of lifestyle do I want to live? Does this idea make me excited?
Having a BIG dream can give us excitement about the future and maybe even trying to work with little goals to get there.
4) Swim in the sea of POSITIVITY
That’s right. Swim in it and get lost in it. Have positive role models, interact with those who lift your spirits, read up on topics and areas of interest that you enjoy.
Remember: What you see, depends on where you look. If you are looking for negatives, chances are you will find negative things rather than positive. Learn to direct your attention – you can see what you WANT to see.
5) Do something nice for someone else!
Doing something nice for someone else helps to distract yourself from only thinking about your unhappiness. It gives us a sense of competence and feeling in control of your life. Do something nice for someone today!
